The writing is on the wall. Trump has said during the campaign that he could shoot someone on 5th avenue in New York City and not lose any of his supporters. No truer words have been spoken. But whether you are a supporter or not, how is this truism good for America? It is not. It cannot be good for America that this President is excused from his actions based on the fact that he is new to government. What does it say about Americans who preferred a novice over a seasoned politician and then when the novice is failing he is supported by the rationale he just does not know any better. Trump is and always has been a confidence man. He is and has always been estranged from the truth.
Republican supporters in Washington should and do know better and continue down the road of blind support at their own peril. Indeed, if passing a new healthcare bill, tax reform and comprehensive infrastructure restoration is what the republican agenda calls for, they should move to impeach Trump and put Pence into the Presidency.
Shocking? I think not. Pence would remove the cloud stalling the progression of the Trump/Republican agenda and give the party a real chance to govern successfully and show political maturity. Moreover, moving to impeach now, shows the entire country that Republicans are able to put country over party and truly appreciate the not so subtle difference between right and wrong. Impeachment is a big deal and should be considered lightly. High crimes and misdemeanors is what it takes. President Trump has committed acts of moral turpitude by virtue of his numerous self-incriminating statements regarding the removal of former FBI Director James Comey. A president without a strong relationship with the truth is dangerous for our citizens and lowers our country’s overall standing in the rest of the world.
It is time for real change. Embrace the truth and begin drafting articles of impeachment now.
